RSS feeds

Well, I've had a Google Reader account for quite some time, but I haven't been using it to read the latest posts. I was wondering why and then I looked at what I had subscribed to. A lot of the sites were job related, but not always the things that interested me the most. I've decided to do some house cleaning. I unsubscribed to a lot of the feeds I had previously subscribed to and added a few fun ones. I know that Google Reader is a great way to stay up to date. I have to admit though - there are just some sites I like going to. I think it's the ritual more than thinking about convenience. It's like visiting with a friend. But, I think being more targeted about my sites makes a lot of sense. I'll try a little experiment and really customize my google reader more and see if I use it. I can still go to my favourite sites for a visit.

Tagging and other Things I'm Behind In

Well, I've been off on vacation and look at how behind I am at all things Betty Blogger. I'm trying to catch up, but you will notice that my posts will not be in order of the assignments - just what I got around to doing first.

So, for this assignment I chose to tag some cooking sites - largely because I have to eat gluten-free and am always looking for new recipes. I like to minimize the amount of sugar I eat as well, so I bookmarked and tagged the following websites:

elanaspantry.com
thespunkycoconut.com
101cookbooks.com
simplysugarandglutenfree.com

I tagged three of them with gluten-free, and one with non gluten-free. I tagged them all with "healthy" one with "very healthy" (yes, I do have a hierarchy). The spunky coconut uses a lot of recipes with coconut flour, so I tagged her site "coconut flour" - while I tagged Elana's pantry with "almond flour" since that's what she uses a lot of. These types of tags are more of a reminder for me. As I add more and more gluten-free sites, I'm going to want to find a way to differentiate between all of them.

I hope I will keep using this, but I know from past experience that it will be on and off.

What is a blog?

Thursday's Betty Blogger drop in was great. We had 5 people come in with various issues - or just to work on their blog. One thing that came up was that even though people posted correctly to their blog, they were still confused about what exactly they were doing. I thought a short video might help. Here's a link to a quick video simply explaining what a blog is:

Hope it helps!

Hello Betty Bloggers!

Hmmmm.....where do I fit on that scale of 1 - 10? Well, if I don't say 10 - you won't come ask me for help. So, even though there is always more to learn, I'll still say I'm a 9.5 - 10. I am really glad to be helping out in this course and look forward to meeting you all.
